Irish Mancunian Presents – ‘Da’ (Christmas Film Night) Followed by Trad Session
9th December 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Join us for a great evening of film & music: the classic ‘DA’, along with an award-winning short film; an Irish music session; book & t-shirt stall; plus free mince pies! Full details below:
Martin Sheen stars as a successful Irish American playwright who has his life more or less in order – except for a deep well of emotion left over from his childhood. When the news comes that his “Da” has died in a home outside Dublin (a star turn from Barnard Hughes), he returns to the scene of all of his memories, and it turns out that his father is still waiting there for him. A wonderfully poignant and funny film, based on the play by Hugh Leonard, exploring themes of family and homecoming.
We’re also delighted to be screening the award-winning short film “Saving Santa”, which will be shown on Irish TV this Christmas. A little girl comes across a destitute man who bears a striking resemblance to Santa Claus, and takes comfort in helping him. Just right to get in the mood for Christmas. Plus…there will be a stall selling Irish books and t-shirts if you’re looking for a Christmas gift, as well as complimentary mince pies!
