Fusion – Celebrating 30 Years of Acid House
December 29 @ 8:30 pm - December 30 @ 1:00 am
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Acid House in the UK, three suburban Manchester club nights have come together for a festive party in Chorlton on Saturday 29 December.
Tom O’Toole (Bop Local), Tracey Donnelly (Happy) and Martin Holland (Club Zero/Soul Town) – who are all friends and have been running their respective club nights in Chorlton, Bowdon and Didsbury – have joined forces for this special club night, Fusion. They will be transforming Chorlton Irish Club into a festive space like you’ve never seen it before. Fusion will feature a selection of Bop Local/Happy/Club Zero DJs for the night, along with a guest DJ to be announced shortly.
Although House music started in Chicago in the 1980s its impact soon hit the clubs of Manchester – especially The Hacienda’s legendary Nude night, where the early house imports were played, alongside homegrown artists like 808 State and A Guy Called Gerald right up to The Chemical Brothers.
Expect to hear some of the classic House tunes at Fusion, along with the tracks from the music genres that led to the emergence of House, such as Disco, Northern Soul, Balearic, Electro and Funk, plus modern remixes of classic tracks and a few curve balls thrown in the mix.
In the snug bar at Chorlton Irish Club, cartoonist Tony Husband will be bringing his famous Cartoon Confessional Box, where guests ‘confess their sins’ as Tony illustrates them in a cartoon. All donations will be going to a charity close to Tony’s heart, Dementia UK.
Fusion is especially aimed at clubbers who want a festive party atmosphere but want to avoid the city centre crowds on New Year’s Eve.
There will be drinks offers (prosecco, beer, wine etc) on the night.
Doors/bars 8.30pm – 1am.
Tickets will be £10 each and are available online via Skiddle:skiddle.com/e/13380526
Tickets will also be available at Celebration in Chorlton, The Bowling Green and also Chorlton Irish Club.
